Catfish

The catfish is a powerful fish, in the Netherlands they call it a seawolf. It is caught in the North Atlantic ocean and the North sea. The catfish has a very strong set of tooth. These are necessary for eating the shellfishes which live on the sea floor or rocks. Fishermen tells that this fish can bites a broomstick in two pieces with his powerful teeth.

This fish can be filleted easily.


  1. First rinse well because it is a very slimy fish.
  2. FIRMLY SHARP KNIFE (not too flexible).
  3. Make on both sides of the belly fins and the gill a incision.
  4. Take of the head.
  5. Put your knife exactly above the middle and filleting the fish to the tail.
  6. Cut into the fillet to the bones in the middle and to when can see the white of the belly bones.
  7. Presses your knife between the pin bones and the belly bones and cut of the fillet to the tail.
  8. The other side is the same only you starts at the tail.


To skin:

  1. Clean your beam with the back of your knife.
  2. Make a small incision in the fillet TO the skin.
  3. Push with your finger tops the skin firmly on the beam and makes at the same time short saw movements and cut the fillet down to the tail.
